Cruise control is a feature that is found in many vehicles that allows the driver to select a the vehicle speed. The cruise control works by slightly adjusting the engine throttle to maintain a constant speed.
Since cruise control is controlled electronically, it adjusts the engine throttle less often, and less aggressively. This results in less energy being used to propel the vehicle down the road and, in turn, increases fuel efficiency.
Cruise control reduces driver fatigue and increases comfort during that long drive. Best yet, it can save you from mistakenly speeding and getting a ticket.
Most cars have cruise control. If you don’t, get one installed. It’s pretty reasonable. Next time you take a long drive, pop it on and cruise on down the road. You’ll save money, the environment and be more comfortable.
