Wiper Blades

Let's take a look at traditional wiper blades - they're made out of organic rubber. Rubber is carbon based. The structural bonds of carbon are weak and react easily with other chemicals that break these bonds. The carbon in rubber blades reacts with the sun and other elements deteriorating over time, causing the wiper to crack and tear. Organic rubber is simply not designed to withstand these elements. Organic rubber blades can't handle big temperature extremes. They lose their functional qualities outside the temperature range of -40°F to 80°F.  That's why manufacturers of organic rubber wiper blades recommend that their customers replace their blades every 6 months.

How can a windshield wiper be “greener?"

Well, if they're made out of silicone. Unlike organic rubber, silicone is a natural earth material - it's inorganic and inert. Silicone won't break down even after years of exposure to harsh conditions. So, silicone blades retain their functional qualities from -100° F to 350° F while offering superior wipe quality.  Silicone naturally resists ozone, UV rays, road grime, automotive fluids and other solvents.

When maintained properly, they can last as long as 3-5 years. That's at least 6 times longer that a traditional wiper rubber replacement. This means 18 less wiper blades dumped into our landfills over 5 years (assumes replacing 2 wipers every 6 months), less shipping and even reduced packaging. Starting to see a bit clearer?

Washer Fluids

Shipping heavy jugs of windshield washing fluid around the country just makes no sense - it's mostly water. Consider windshield tablets - just add water and you're good to go.  Rather not mix? Consider a bio-based fluid. But, please recycle the empty jug.
