Earthgarage Alliance Membership

Earthgarage aggregates automotive products and services that will help consumers improve their fuel economy, reduce their carbon footprint and save money. We show drivers what's available right now, where they can buy it and provide a community to share experiences and provide advice. We're working with forward-thinking automotive industry companies that have committed to a future of environmentally-friendly products and practices.

We've categorized green automotive parts and services into the following areas:

-Manufacturer Claim - The automotive supplier makes a specific claim regarding fuel improvement, emission reduction or maintenance savings.

-Third Party Certified - An independent third party has to evaluated and certified a particular claim.

-Certified Remanufactured Component - The product has been certified to contain a standard level of remanufactured materials.

-Carbon Footprint Reduction - The automotive supplier makes a commitment to reducing greenhouse gases and offsets what they can't.

-Regularly Scheduled Maintenance Components/Servicing - Typical replacement items/servicing that effects vehicle performance.

-Product Reduction/Longevity/Recycling - The component simply lasts longer, extending the replacement interval. This reduces the amount of raw materials and energy required to produce the part itself, packaging, shipping, etc. The component uses less materials/packaging in comparison to conventional parts and can be efficiently recycled.

Basic membership in the Earthgarage Alliance is free and includes the following elements:

-Tap in to the Earthgarage community/social networking platform

-Earthgarage Blog/Twitter integration

-Earthgarage MoneySaver widget (when applicable)

Earthgarage will work with automotive aftermarket manufacturers, industry trade associations, consumer/environmental groups and government regulatory agencies to further develop collaborative, voluntary industry standards. Our long-term goal is to develop transparent environmental guidelines, performance metrics and a standard ranking/scoring system.
